The KRAFTZWERG module is not just a simple synthesizer voice. It is a complex synthesizer with multiple functions and patch capabilities, all in a convenient compact format. It will easily fit a 3HE-rack-system or an equivalent flight-case-system.

The KRAFTZWERG module can instantly be played using CV- and gate-signals. The classic signal-path VCO-VCF-VCA as well as the most common modulations are already pre-patched internally. By using any of the available 37 patch points, the signal-path can be modified to include external components and control multiple functions by external CV-sources like step-sequencers, wheels or even a Theremin-controller.

The KRAFTZWERG module can also receive Key-CV- and gate-signals from the system-bus, given that a MIDI-CV- or bus-access-module feeds these signals to the system-bus. Here, the KRAFTZWERG module can be played without any patch connection.

This makes the KRAFTZWERG module far more than a basic synthesizer voice. It offers all necessary components for flexible and powerful synthesis. The oscillator section consists of three VCOs, each with three waveforms, hard-sync, pulse-width-modulation and a separate output for ring-modulation. The corresponding oscillator-mixer allows further adding of a noise-component.

The lowpass-resonance-filter with a steepness of 24 dB/octave is based upon the well-known transistor-cascade. A CV-controllable dual LFO, two AHDSR envelope-generators, a VCA and two multiples complete the module’s offering.

Although the KRAFTZWERG module is based upon a single circuit-board, all components can be used individually and in combination with other (compatible) analogue modules. Except for slight differences, function and sounds equals the available single MFB-modules. It is of course possible to combine the KRAFTZWERG module with other MFB modules to expand flexibility. For example, form a powerful rack with an additional step-sequencer SEQ-02 and another Dual-LFO module.

The KRAFTZWERG module has a width of 305 mm (60 TE). It is equipped with a connector cable compatible to the Doepfer-system-bus. In difference to the stand-alone-version of KRAFTZWERG, the module does not include an integrated MIDI-CV-interface.
